RSPB Land of Otters Walk

As part of the Outer Hebrides Wildlife Festival week, RSPB are offering guided walks and some events for FREE. 10am-1pm.

 

Join Martyn Jamieson from the RSPB on a guided walk around some otter areas. Learn more about these fascinating animals and where they call home. The walk is 2 miles long over rough and wet ground along a hillside trail. Stout footwear and weatherproof clothing is recommended. Not suitable for those with mobility restrictions. The walk can take between 2-3 hours. You may wish to take water, binoculars or a camera with you.

 

Meet at Langass Lodge carpark.

Our local Fire Station’s are hosting members of the public who are thinking about applying. Have you ever wondered things like;

“What level of commitment do I have to offer?”

“How much do I get paid?”

“Am I eligible to apply?”

“Do I live too far away?”

“What level of fitness do I need to have?”

“What is the process to become an on-call firefighter?”

 

They will answer these questions amongst many others. Come and have a chat in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

Drawing on a wealth of unseen archival material, including sound recordings, film rushes, offcuts and unpublished notebooks, Luke Fowler’s new feature film focuses on Margaret Tait (1918-1999), one of Scotland’s most enigmatic filmmakers.

Fèis Tìr an Eòrna will take place in Sgoil Uibhist a Tuath from Monday 1st July – Friday 5th July 2024, 9.30am – 3.30pm. Application forms will be made available online after the Easter holidays.

 

Fèis Tìr an Eòrna is usually held each summer in Sgoil Uibhist a Tuath.  Tuition is offered in a multitude of instruments as well as Gaelic song, drama and Highland dancing.

The North Uist Agricultural Show is held annually in July at Hosta in North Uist and organised by the North Uist Agricultural Society. It is a wonderful showcase and celebration of crofters’ stock, produce and home industries.

This Walk and Talk will commence at the Bard’s Memorial at Snishival and will follow the Snishival track westwards for around three quarters of a mile. It will cover a general recent history of the area including some of the more notable families and stories.

Come and join for a mini Scottish traditional music concert for young children and their families.

 

 

Aimed at pre school children, Ceilidh Tots offers parents and guardians the chance to take some time out and enjoy a live concert from professional musicians whilst children can roam around freely and enjoy the tunes. The setting is informal and relaxed! The benefits of exposing children to music early on are endless.

 

 

This is an interactive relaxed session with bubbles, dancing and some mini instruments for the wee ones to join in and lasts just under an hour.

 

 

Come and connect with other families and enjoy the tunes!

 

 

The concert is suitable for birth onwards and children can join in as little or as much as they please. Older children are welcome. Please ensure you have purchased an adult ticket and any extra siblings require tickets at a reduced cost.
